    It’s also the perfect time to open hearts and homes to a new member of the family. Stop by the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC), 4140 Valley View Lane, and take advantage of the Big Dogs, Big Deals event. All dogs 40 pounds and larger are available for an adoption fee of only $20. Talk with shelter staff to find the right dog that suits your family’s lifestyle, and remember that older dogs make excellent pets, too.

AquaStars

    The program is custom-designed to children with special needs, ages 18 and younger. AquaStars participants must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. On a monthly basis, AquaStars provides special needs children with an opportunity to sidestep crowds and experience the excitement of play in an indoor, 20-yard, temperature-controlled lap pool. Best of all, participants will only pay the standard admission rate.

    The safety of AquaStars guests is paramount to program organizers. The Heritage Aquatic Center’s pool boasts features including an accessible ramp, accessible chair lift and water chair, making it an ideal location to pilot the AquaStars program. The city will provide the appropriate lifeguard and staffing ratios, as well as access to waterproof wheelchairs.

    Performance artists from around the country will come together for the third annual Southern Fried Circus Fest Act Development Showcase presented by Moxie Mischief. Acts will range from ground (contortion, juggling) to air (trapeze, rope, silks) and feature a range of skill levels from amateur to professional.

    Every second Sunday, Irving Arts Center hosts Family Funday — a guided craft program that’s fun for the whole family. This month, attendees will draw on inspiration from cultures around the world, including those of the Islamic world, the People’s Republic of China and Western civilization. Activities will include creating collages with shapes and using patterns to embellish projects.

  4. Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin, People’s Republic of China

    With a reputation for superior skills in acrobatics, circus acts, illusions and martial arts, the award-winning Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin are known well beyond China. Accompanied by traditional Chinese music, the martial arts are presented in true artistic and acrobatic fashion.

    Established in 1957, the Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin, People’s Republic of China, build off the rich cultural tradition of Chinese kung fu, a fighting style that developed over a long historical period in China. The traditional sport continues to gain popularity, and today, it stands as a symbol for Chinese culture. There are many styles of kung fu, including Shaolin and Wudang, and the Martial Artist and Acrobats of Tianjin present them in an educational, highly entertaining performance that’s sure to dazzle young and old.
