July 1, 2017 - July 31, 2017 @ Irving Arts Center
July 21, 2017 - August 5, 2017 @ Dupree Theater
Furious fun flourishes in the city so nice, they named it twice! Meet the Sherwood Sisters, clever-as-they-come Ruth and pretty-as-a-penny Eileen, headed to the Big Apple to chase their dreams. The gals settle in a beat-up basement studio apartment in Greenwich Village, full of eccentric charm and frequently visited by a cascade of colorful characters, run by landlord Papa Appopolous. Ruth aspires to be a writer, while Eileen longs for the big lights of Broadway. Don’t miss a chance to see the play that inspired the hit musical favorite “Wonderful Town.”
Show Schedule (three weekends)
July 31, 2017 - August 4, 2017 @ Irving Arts Center
Featuring four classes or areas of study each day. Students ages 13-16 also may opt for half days (morning or afternoon) with two areas of concentration. Mornings include “Op Art Eye Attack” (Optical Illusion Art) and “Spot On: Pop Art Parodies” (in the style of Roy Lichtenstein). Afternoons feature “Let’s Build a Better World” (architecture) and “Peace, Love and the Art of Printmaking” (inspired by the psychedelic art of the era, popular culture and the styles of Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella and Andy Warhol).
Kids ages 6-12 stay cool and experience the Summer of ’17: Peace, Love and Art vibe through unique summer art camp adventures. On the agenda for “Rubber Soul” campers: Robert Rauschenberg’s Combines and Collages; Soup Can Masterpieces; Paisley Pups and Cool Cats (Peter Max-inspired animals). Then get totally psychedelic with LEGO® and cool out with Zen and the Art of Yoga.
July 31, 2017, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ East Branch Library Storytime Area
