  1. Free Cat Adoptions

    June 1, 2018 - June 30, 2018 @ Irving Animal Care Campus

    June is Adopt-a-Cat Month at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Adoption fees for cats 1 year and older are waived during June, and kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.

    All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

Aquatics

  1. Red Cross Lifeguard Class

    June 8, 2018, 8:00 AM - June 10, 2018, 6:30 PM @ North Lake Natatorium

    Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.

    Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.

    Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

      Hot off the heels of the major success of his stage play, “Watch Night: A Freedom’s Eve Story,” T.K. Henderson and Greg Ellis - the former Dallas Cowboys star turned playwright and director - have written the follow up play, “Juneteenth.” Through dialogue and music, with modern day scenes and flashbacks to 1865, “Juneteenth” recreates the pivotal story of slavery in the state of Texas, and how the slaves were finally granted freedom.
